Mark Weider Artist Profile

I have been living in the Malibu \ Pacific Palisades area since 1998. Here I began to experience the wonderful sunsets this place had to offer. The Santa Monica Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, cloud formations and our glorious sun would make for some captivating moments. I needed to capture them on film!

The most exciting part in my opinion is watching in anticipation as these elements come together to produce forms and colors that only nature can. The sky truly becomes a canvas as the twilight unleashes it’s magic! It’s fleeting beauty makes it all the more special.

There is also a magic moment to be had when photographing cityscapes. As the sunsets and the sky turns dark blue the city lights suddenly appear creating a harmonious moment in which city and sky truly complement each other.

I feel fortunate to have taken photos of the World Trade Center before they were lost forever. It makes these photos meaningful to people in a way I could not have imagined when I clicked the shutter. The North Trade Tower view was shot from the Hudson River on a pier. The two Trade Tower's view was observed from the Brooklyn side. These photos were made in June, 2001.

I shoot 35mm format and use fine grain film to capture the images I am presenting on my site. I develop my slides into illfochrome prints because they portray the colors with such vivid rendition and they retain their brilliance for many years to come.

Thank you for visiting my site and I hope you found my photos to be a visually interesting experience.
